Legendary progressive rock band, YES, will start their 2016 UK-European Tour kicking off 27 April 2016 in Glasgow, Scotland and wrapping up 2 June 2016 in Bari, Italy. On this tour, fans can look forward to a unique YES experience; the band will perform two of its iconic albums in their entirety, Fragile and, for the first time ever, Drama.
YES will delight audiences with tracks from two of its most influential albums. Fans will hear long-time favorites, including Roundabout, Long Distance Runaround, Heart of the Sunrise, Machine Messiah, Into the Lens, Tempus Fugit, and more. In addition, YES will perform all the tracks in the order they appear on each corresponding studio album.
“This is a first for us,” said YES guitarist, Steve Howe. “This is the first time we’ll be performing Drama in its entirety. In fact, most of the Drama songs haven’t been performed in some 30 years.” YES drummer, Alan White, adds, “Drama’s a great album, and we decided it’s long past due to bring its life and energy back to the forefront. We think the fans will love hearing Fragile and Drama in their entirety, and we certainly look forward to performing them.”
The UK/European 2016 tour visits 27 cities across the UK and Europe. See below for complete tour itinerary information, including venues and dates.
Tickets can be purchased in advance.
NB: For technical reasons beyond both parties’ control, Moon Safari will not be able to join Yes as opening act on the European tour. The band will, however, remain on the bill for one night only to make a special guest appearance at the Royal Albert Hall in London on May 10, taking the stage at 7.30. YES wish Moon Safari every good fortune in the future.
Oxford New Theatre 9 May & Royal Albert Hall London 10 May.
Trevor Horn has confirmed he will delight fans with a rare guest appearance during the band’s London show at Royal Albert Hall on 10th May. Trevor will also join Yes on stage in Oxford New Theatre on the 9th; this will be the first opportunity to see YES live with Trevor since the original Drama tour 36 years ago.
The announcement was made after Horn joined YES for a rehearsal session at Rockfield Studios in Monmouth last week. Robert Plant, who was also working in another studio at Rockfield also popped in to say hello to the guys.
The extensive UK and European tour sees YES performing 1980’s prog landmark album ‘Drama’ (1980) in its entirety for the very first time, together with ‘Fragile’ (1971) and other seminal hits from their catalogue.
‘Drama’, YES’s only album to feature Horn as lead vocalist, marked a change of direction for their sound and was widely acclaimed by critics, reaching number 2 in the UK charts. The band disbanded after the tour, with Trevor venturing into production. Trevor Horn went onto produce YES’s next album 90125.
‘Most of the songs haven’t been performed in some 30 years’ – said Steve Howe. “Reliving those years will be very emotional” – adds drummer Alan White – “I know Chris would have loved to be here with us for this”.
